Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold saw an unexpected rise in his stock throughout the 2024 season.
How much money could Darnold’s next contract be worth?
Analysts at Spotrac projected Darnold’s fair market value in 2025 to be $40,123,661 per year. Based on age, experience, and statistics of comparable quarterbacks, Darnold could be offered a four-year contract worth $160,494,644.
The issue for Darnold is that he may not get that offer from the Vikings. Minnesota was forced to rely on Darnold as a starter when rookie signal-caller J.J. McCarthy was injured in the preseason.
McCarthy is set to return in 2025 but if there is a hiccup in his recovery, the Vikings may keep him on injured reserve when the season kicks off.
Though it remains to be seen if Minnesota will look to re-sign Darnold just in case McCarthy isn’t ready to play, the former New York Jet has set himself up to sign a high-dollar contact at some point.
